Today is a big day in our household…my son, Baz, has orientation at his new school! He’ll be entering the first grade next Tuesday. So I thought it might be kinda nice to take him shopping using the Gap Groupon that I purchased a few weeks back.
Now let me preface this..Baz was NOT thrilled about going clothing shopping and on the way there asked me just about 10 times if he could get toys instead. After reminding him that Christmas was months away and that he needed school clothes he stopped asking..ok I’ll be honest..he stopped asking because I gave him some Laffy Taffy…it may be sugary..but it does result in a few minutes of quiet in the car ;)
We got to the Gap he walked right up to a mannequin, pointed and said ‘I want that outfit’. He then proceeded to locate that entire outfit in the store…walking around like he owned the place :) He tried everything on..and of course looked adorable, BUT his outfit was WAYYYY over the $50 Groupon I intended to use. Once again, my friends, frugality was out the window. I purchased everything he had in his little arms and watched him smile the whole way to the counter and out the door as he carried the Gap bag full of new clothes. While this blog aims to help you be frugal…it’s more about saving money where you can to enjoy things that are special. The good times I spent with Baz today were definitely worth the cost of admission today ;)
