One of the questions I get asked often is if we are ‘allowed’ to stack SavingStar.com digital coupons with the manufacturer’s coupons found online or in coupon inserts…and the answer is…technically, NO.
According to SavingStar’s FAQ section, you are NOT (really) allowed to use a manufacturer’s coupon when using a SavingStar coupon:
SavingStar eCoupons will work whether or not you combine them with other services’ coupons, but they are not intended to be used this way. Generally, manufacturers state that it is against their policies for shoppers to redeem more than one manufacturer’s coupon for the same purchase. Using in-store coupons in combination with SavingStar eCoupons is not a problem.
In the future, we may implement mechanisms to limit the combination of SavingStar eCoupons with other manufacturer coupons.
Now here’s the problem with that answer…it’s a little vague. SavingStar.com essentially does not give us a straight answer. However, I have heard of several bloggers being reprimanded by SavingStar in regards to posting deals that contain a SavingStar.com stacking opportunity.
So for that reason, (and because I like to stay on the good side of the law ;), I will continue to include SavingStar coupons in my scenarios, however, I will leave them out when calculating the final total.
