How to Shop at Whole foods Without Spending Your Whole Paycheck!

whole-foods

Let’s face it…you want to eat healthy, you want to eat organic and Whole Foods is like the mecca of all things healthy and organic…but it’s also known for being super expensive, hence the nickname Whole Paycheck. The good news is that you CAN save some money at Whole Foods with a little prep and organization…I’m about to drop some major money saving knowledge on your Whole Foods shopping habits!

1. Use coupons – Yes, Whole Foods accepts manufacturer’s coupons. Did you know that? Each week, I put together the best Whole foods couponing sales on the blog. You can check it out right here. As a matter of fact, you can even make a printable shopping list! Some of the best places to find organic/health food coupons are Coupons.com, Mambo Sprouts & Common Kindness

2. Use even more coupons – Did you know that Whole Foods has their own set of coupons? Yup! Head right over to the Whole Foods website and print off these coupons!

3. Use even more coupons (last one I promise!) - I know you are probably sick of hearing about couponing at Whole Foods, but there are a couple of mobile couponing apps that can help you save money. Bust our your smartphone and download, Ibotta, Checkout 51 & Snap by Groupon to save on stuff like milk, eggs, yogurt and other healthy stuff!

4. Create a weekly menu around Whole Food sales – Before going out to Whole foods, take a look at the sales flyer and their Sure Deals and create a menu around the items that are on sale. If free-range chicken is on sale, plan a few meals around that item. If your favorite salmon is NOT on sale, sorry…your taste buds will have to wait until the price comes down! P.S. You may not know this…but Whole food already does this for you!

5. Eat What’s in Season – One of the easiest ways to save money on fresh produce is to shop according to what’s in season. When an item is in season, this is when you can find it at it’s cheapest, because the supply is plentiful. For example, you should have no problem finding a good deal on cobs of corn in the summer, but come wintertime, you’ll be paying 2-3x the amount for the same item because it’s no longer in season. This site has some great seasonal produce calendars!

6. Shop the 1 day sales – Every so often, Whole Foods will have a one day sale on an item and offer it at a GREAT discount! I’ve seen these sales happen on everything from whole chickens to strawberries! Follow them on Facebook or read their blog to find out about these events! Remember, when prices are low you will want to buy in bulk!

I hope I’ve given you some new ways to save at Whole Foods and if I missed any tips, please let me know in the comments! I love reader feedback! Also, if you liked this post or know someone who could use it, please share it on social media! :)
