Last week, I lovingly told my husband that I had a lot of projects to in mind…and by lots of projects…I meant projects for him. LOL! This weekend we tackled the laundry room and attempted to give it a Pinterest makeover ;) After seeing several instances of laundry room counter tops, I knew I had to have one. Trouble was, we couldn’t go with a standard counter top because our washer & dryers were too deep for a standard counter top, so we toyed with the idea of having a custom counter top made for our space, but that just sounded too expensive for my taste.
We purchased a ready made hollow core door from Lowes for $26.00. As luck would have it, the door fit our space EXACTLY! All we had to do was stain and put a couple coats of polyurethane on it! We also used two pieces of 1×1 wood to brace the countertop, we set them back so you can’t even seen them from the front.
Total project cost: $40 included Door, Stain & Poly
We also painted the room Wythe Blue (Benjamin Moore) added wainscotting and a chair rail. Next weekend, we will add either cabinets or open faced shelving above the washer & dryer, so I can store some stockpile items!
Check back tomorrow, when I tell you how my husband built that laundry cabinet you see above!
