June is National Fruit & Vegetable month and it’s the start of all the fresh summer goodness! Don’t you love the sweet smell of fresh fruit when you walk down the vegetable section at the super market?
Apricots, strawberries, raspberries, nectarines, honeydew, peaches, kiwi, blueberries, cantalope, and watermelons are in season starting June. Over 40% of fruits will be in their peak season over the next three months. Stock up, eat up, and fill up those jars to preserve them for winter months when you find deals. Try to eat at least 8 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, fresh and in season when possible.
Here are some ways to get your fruits into your diet beside the obvious eating fresh:
Fruit smoothies
Sprinkle in green salads
Blend and make fresh fruit popsicles
Fruit salads
Fruit with cottage cheese for a power packed snack.
