Just got a tip from a reader that the $1 off Hannaford Brand Items & $2 off Hannaford Meat coupons which were distributed via PDF format a few weeks ago are no longer being honored at Hannaford*. Hannaford made this announcement on their Facebook page:
Unfortunately, due to misuse of the $2 off meat and $1 off Hannaford Brand coupons, we have made the decision to deactivate these coupons before their expiration date. We are evaluating our on-line coupon program to determine how we can prevent issues like this from happening again, and regret any inconvenience this causes.
Be on the lookout for a $1 Angus Beef coupon which is still valid and found near the meat/butcher department.
*Now allow me to go on a rant….
I rarely shop at Hannaford. I just don’t find their ‘everyday’ prices are as low as what I get at Shaws using coupons. Overall, any grocery store who refuses to at least get their own reward card and offer regular coupon incentives is excluding a large demographic of financially conscious people…and that’s unfortunate. It’s that old school mentality that is keeping Hannaford from aggressively moving forward in this economy. The Hannaford coupons that were in last Sunday’s Maine Telegram were a surprising step in the right direction, but without a corporate coupon strategy, I feel like Hannaford will never be my grocery store of choice.
