I’m new to understanding how coupons and ecb works at cvs…You pay the total but how do the savings kick in?
A store coupon prints out on your receipt for the $5 that you can use on anything (except tobacco, giftcards, stamps. the usual exceptions). This coupon can be used like a store credit and can be “rolled” (meaning that you can use them to pay for more items that earn ECBs). The result is that you can spend little or nothing after the first week by just paying for all your future items with ECBs and getting more ECBS in return. For example, I bought a bunch of body wash and Q-tips for $12 and got $10 in ECBs. Then I used the $10 ECBs to get $30 worth of diapers (minus $7 in coupons). Because the pre-coupon total was over $30, I got $10 back in ECBs (so it was if I hadn’t really spent the $10 credit). I still have the $10 ECB and plan on buying more items that generate ECBS with it and continuing this process for as long as I can. I hope that explanation helps. Most ECBS do have an expiration date of 30 days after they print though.
