How To Start Extreme Couponing in 2013 – Lesson #2 – Know When To Use Your Coupons

Good Afternoon and welcome to the second installment in the  How To Start Extreme Couponing in 2013 series. Yesterday, we discussed the importance of having a lot of coupons and I even gave you a few tips on how to get your hands on some. Today I want to talk about why it’s important to know WHEN to use  your coupons…this can literally make or break a deal!

Knowing when to use your coupon is probably the biggest obstacle that new couponers struggle with. It’s very tempting, when you have a new coupon, to want to go out and use it right away…but that strategy can cost you big time! What you want to do is hang onto that coupon until the item comes on sale, once the item is on sale, that is the best time to use the’s like double the savings! Bonus if you can score a sale & a store reward like at one of the drug stores!

Here are a few more examples of when to use a coupon:

Double Coupons – If you live near a grocery store that doubles coupons up to $1.00, then you are going to want to try to take all of your $.75 coupons to that store…why? Because they will double to $1.50 off!

B1G1 FREE Coupon – If you have a B1G1 FREE Coupon, you’ll want to hang onto it to see if that items comes on sale for B1G1 FREE at one of the stores, if it does, you’ll end up by getting 2 items for FREE instead of 1!

Free Product Coupons– Sometimes we get lucky and get out hands on a coupon for a FREE product and while you are probably thinking, it doesn’t matter if this item is on sale or not, I’m getting it FREE. But, what you could do is wait to see if that item comes on sale or B1G1 FREE, then you could pick up 2 items for FREE with that one coupon instead of one!

Come back tomorrow, when we talk about getting to know the stores sales cycles and why this can have an impact on the way you shop!

I dont really understand the Big1, free product and double coupons? How exactly could I get a lot out of each with having to so much or maybe at all for them. I also see on the show how people get a lot of an item and pay practically nothing for them when they are on sale. How in the world do I do that?
