A few weeks ago, I let you know that thanks to the Affordable Health Care Act which took effect earlier this year, insurance companies are now mandated to cover the cost of breast pumps for nursing moms. I was VERY excited about this, and quickly scored a prescription from my doctor for an electric breast pump.
I went to the approved medical supply store to pick it up today and was informed that my insurance covers breast pumps as medically necessary, which means that a single electric breast pump would be fully covered. However, if I wanted to upgrade to a double pump, I was free to do so, all I needed to do was pay the upgrade fee of $58…which I decided to do.
I received a Medela In Style Advanced Double Electric Breast Pump and all it cost me was the upgrade fee of $58, a LOT less than if I would’ve bought it on Amazon! (It sells for $259!)
